How to Compress an Image to 100KB

What 100KB does to your photo

The tool searches for the highest JPG quality that still fits 100KB, working down from about 0.92 toward a floor of 0.40. Get a sharper 100KB by resizing first

Since a large photo will have its dimensions cut anyway, doing it yourself first beats letting the compressor shrink a huge image only after it has already pushed quality to the floor. Two steps help most:

  1. Resize down first. Use Resize Image to bring the long edge to somewhere around 800–1200px before compressing. Starting from a sensible size lets the tool spend its budget on quality instead of a last-minute downscale.

FAQ

Will compressing to 100KB make my photo blurry?
Not usually, if it was a sensible size to start with. The tool lowers quality before it touches dimensions, so a modestly sized photo reaches 100KB while staying reasonably sharp. Blur mainly shows up when a very large photo is squeezed to 100KB without being resized first.

Do I have to set the target myself?

What if 100KB can't be reached?
